Summer Fun In Central Park

Sitting only a block away from both James Marquis and West Side Marquis buildings is what some may argue is the greatest park in the world. Central Park spans over 50 blocks and offers a beautiful recess from city living with its lush green fields, striking trees, and gorgeous bride & tunnel architecture. Us New Yorkers are always on the go. Central Park is the perfect spot to spend an afternoon this summer relaxing and recharging. Read on to hear all about upcoming events & activities in the Park. 

1. Shakespeare In The Park

From July 11, 2019 to August 11, 2019, catch "Coriolanus" at the open-aire Delacorte Theater. A gorgeous way to spend a beautiful summer evening, these tickets are always free and in high demand. Win tickets by wiating in line the day of the show, or by using the TodayTix app.

 

2. Visit the Belvedere

Built in 1869, the Belvedere Castle is a fantastic spot to see beauticul views of not just the park, but the city. It is now open to tour after undergoig extensive renovations. Add this stop to your weekend stroll!

 

3. Central Park Zoo

The Central Park Zoo, while small, is mighty. See some of the most incredible animals our world has to offer including snow leopards and lemurs, as well as creatures of the oceans including sea lions and penguins. Tickets are less than $20 but be mindful of the hours. On the weekends the park closes at 5:30pm. 

4. SummerStage

A wonderful NYC tradition, SummerStage continues for its 30th year. Catch famous acts like Corinne Bailey Rae and The Mountain Goats this August, or check out international artists from around the world. The best part is the shows are free! Experience new favorites and top 40 hits throghout the season in the scenic backdrop of Central Park!

 

5. Take A Class

Central Park offers all kinds of classes for whatever strikes you. Try out a Vinyasa Yoga class, or a drawing class. It's a great way to relax, meet new people, and expand your horizons. 

 

6. Bike, Walk, Run, or Fish

We mustn't forget the always free and always fun activities any park provides. Take a bike ride on one of the many dedicated Central Park paths, or go for a stroll through Strawberry Fields. Fishing is available up at the Harlem Meer. Grab your fishing pole and relax by the river!
